Sandblasting
Sandblasting
Sandblasting is a technique used to help strip or clean certain metals of old paint or rust, which prepares the material before it enters the powder coating phase.
Despite the name, ‘sand’ isn’t used in sandblasting at all. The fine grains are actually Granet, which is an inert, non-toxic, naturally occurring mineral.
To remove surface contaminants, garnet is shot through an air compressed hose at high speed. The sandblasted exterior of the metal is perfect for enabling the powder coating to “key in” mechanically.
